Award-winning Spacecrafted Rug Collection by Jan Kath to be Showcased at the 74th IAC

Come and enjoy the award-winning Spacecrafted collection of the contemporary rug art to be showcased within the 74th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Baku, Azerbaijan between 2nd and 6th October 2023.

Participants of 74th IAC will have an exclusive access to the world of luxury handmade carpets created by Jan Kath, a renowned German designer who has gained international recognition for his unique blend traditional and contemporary styles of rug making. The collection conveys a sense of wanderlust, desire, and adventurous spirit and – from a technical perspective – it represents a departure into a new carpet dimension.

“Jan Kath is one of the world’s avant-garde designers of modern hand-knotted carpets that are woven reproduction of galactic imagery. Each rug of Spacecrafted collection is a celestial masterpiece, reflecting the beauty and mystery of distant galaxies and cosmic landscapes. Being lucky enough to have a Jan Kath as a special guest of the 74th International Astronautical Congress, we are honoured to showcase his Spacecrafted collection in Azerbaijan for the first time ever,” – said Samaddin Asadov, Chairman of national space agency Azercosmos, and urged all space enthusiasts and art lovers to join to the IAC 2023.

The unique rug’s exhibition will be hosted in Heydar Aliyev Center, a part of the 74th IAC venue  and signature landmark of modern Baku due to its innovative and cutting-edge design.

Speaking about his first-ever exhibition in Azerbaijan, Jan Kath said: “We are happy that we can support the International Astronautical Congress in Baku with our rugs. Azerbaijan is a country with an old and very well-founded carpet tradition, some of the most important carpet designs in the world were created here, which fascinate me to this day.”

“The ancient craft is important to me and its preservation is a great personal concern. While we produce the majority of our collections in Kathmandu Nepal, we want to help breathe new life into the old craft here in Azerbaijan as well - going back to the roots and bringing the old patterns into a new era with a contemporary view. This is a great challenge and a great pleasure at the same time,”- he continued.
